Our best
of the day comes up in Race 6 (Book a Carnival Marquee C3 over 1100m) at
Grafton, where they’ll be racing on a slow (7) today. The Les
Ross-trained #1 Mishani Persuader rose to stakes grade towards the end of his
last prep, and drops sharply in class here.
He’s
unbeaten over this trip and, despite hauling 60kg, Brad Stewart takes the ride
and will be looking for his fourth win aboard this 3yo. Off a
short three-month break, he looks to be the most progressive type in this field
and, providing he doesn’t get too far back in the run, should be winning well.
Suggested bet: Grafton
R6 #1 Mishani Persuader (win two units) 3rd

NHL for April 8
New Jersey
Devils @ Buffalo Sabres, First Niagara Center, Buffalo, New York, Monday, April
8, 10am
It’s
crunch time for the Devils – they’ve lost six straight and have fallen to 10th
in the East. With just 10 games to go, they need to reverse their fortunes very
quickly. Indeed, we’re leaning towards that record stretching to seven losses
here but our money will be going on the game total.
Previously,
the Devils could blame their downfall on an injury to Martin Brodeur. He’s back
but they still can’t get on track. The Devils are without Ilya Kovalchuk and
they’ve scored just 10 goals in the six games he’s missed. Meanwhile, the
Sabres are also without a top scorer as Thomas Vanek will miss this game.
Suggested
bet: Game total -5 (three units) PUSH

MLB for April 8
Oakland
Athletics @ Houston Astros, Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas, Monday, April 8,
5am
Oakland
(4-2) has won the first two games of this series by scores of 8-3 and 6-3,
covering the run-line in both games. After scoring two runs in losing its first
two games of the season, Oakland has scored 28 runs over its last four games.
The Astros
(1-4), on the other hand, after scoring eight runs in winning their season
opener, have scored six runs total in losing their last four games.
Lefty
Brett Anderson starts for the A’s against Lucas Harrell. Anderson held Seattle
to two runs on four hits through seven innings Monday, a game Oakland lost 2-0.
Our money will be on the A’s to sink the Astros once again.
Suggested
bet: Athletics -1.5 (three units) WIN

Chicago
Bulls @ Detroit Pistons, The Palace of Auburn Hills, Detroit, Michigan, Monday,
April 8, 10.30am
The
Detroit Pistons look to end a staggering 18-game losing streak against the
Bulls here, but we don’t fancy their chances.
Chicago is sandwiched in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference
playoff race, but just 1.5 separates them from the Brooklyn Nets for the fourth
spot and they have Atlanta trailing them by just 1.5 games. Bottom line is they
have plenty at stake.
Even
without Rose and Noah, Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng have provided enough offence
while the Bulls have no few issues on defence, ranking third in points allowed.
Suggested
bet: Bulls -4.5 (three units) LOST
