Today’s seven-race card at Warwick Farm will be run on a slow (6) with
our best of the day scheduled to jump in the fifth – the Pro-Ride BM75 Hcp over
1200m for fillies and mares. The John O’Shea-trained #3 Princess Layla has won
two of 11 and drop sharply in class for this race having
finished close behind both the Darley-trained Babel and the Chris
Waller-trained She’s Clean last preparation. A bold front-runner, Princess
Layla continued to show good improvement with each start, last time in
returning a career-peak rating of 88 when only just edged out by She’s Clean at
Rosehill two starts back. Given two
trials in the lead up to her first-up performance, she appears to have come
back in good order, most recently saluting at Randwick over 1050m. Having
collected both of her two career victories when fresh, O’Shea will hope Nash
Rawiller can continue his hot run with his stable as he is riding at a strike
rate of 25 per cent for the season.

Cleveland
Indians (30-33, 12-21 away) @ Texas Rangers (38-25, 19-8 home), Rangers
Ballpark in Arlington, TX, Wednesday, June 12, 10.10am
The Cleveland
Indians haven’t been able to generate much offence during their lengthy losing
streak. It doesn’t figure to get any easier against red-hot left-hander Derek
Holland, who will try to hand sinking Cleveland its ninth straight loss overall
and 13th in a row on the road. Following a 2-4 road trip, the AL West-leading
Rangers (38-25) opened a season-high 11-game home run on Monday by continuing
their dominance of the Indians (30-33) with a 6-3 victory. Cleveland has batted
.211 and been outscored 51-27 during the eight-game skid and hit .201 in its
longest road slide since a franchise-record 15 straight losses in 2009.
Holland is
4-0 with a 2.40 ERA over his last seven starts, striking out 48 and limiting
opponents to two homers in 45 innings during that stretch. He’s also been
outstanding versus the Indians, pitching at least seven innings while yielding
two runs or less in five of six career starts against them. He’s 2-0 with a
1.91 ERA in his last four outings against Cleveland. Corey Kluber (3-4, 4.56)
is scheduled to make his first career start against the Rangers. Since allowing
a season-worst eight runs over 4 2/3 innings in a 10-4 loss at Detroit on May
10, the right-hander has gone 1-2 with a 3.67 ERA in his last five starts.

Game 3: Miami Heat @ San Antonio Spurs, AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX, Wednesday,
June 12
A
second-half Game 2 demolition by Miami has created some momentum for the Heat.
Miami used a ferocious 33-5 run to turn a close contest into a lopsided affair
en route to a 103-84 victory that evened the series at a game apiece. Miami
forward LeBron James has been held to a 17.5 average in the first two games and
didn’t even lead the Heat in scoring on Monday when Mario Chalmers was the most
pivotal figure with 19 points.
The Spurs’
trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined for only 35 points
in Game 2 after compiling 54 in San Antonio’s Game 1 victory. But the Spurs
have only lost three games all playoffs and have bounced back the following
game on every occasion. Over Miami’s past eight games
they have been overly complacent coming off a win; L, W, L, W, L, W, L, W – it's
as if they expend so much energy on the rebound that they don’t focus ahead to
the next game.
Suggested
bet: Spurs WIN (three units @ $1.77) WIN, game total -187.5 (one unit @ $1.91) LOSE (77-113)
Note: NHL Stanley Cup Finals series starts tomorrow
