It’s a
good (3) for today’s meeting at Tamworth and we’ve found one worth following in
the third on the card, the Peel TV Services Hcp (BM75) over 1100m.
Resuming
from a spell, the Luke Griffith-trained gelding #1 Texas Lad raced in much tougher
company last prep, winning at Canterbury two back before another solid run at
Warwick Farm.
He won at
Scone first-up last prep at Scone, has won twice over this distance and carts a
manageable 58kg here thanks to the 2kg claim for apprentice Patrick Lo.
Suggested
bet: Tamworth R3 #1 Texas Lad (win two units) LOSE

MLB for
April 9
Colorado
Rockies @ San Francisco Giants, AT&T Park, San Francisco, California,
Tuesday, April 9, 11.45am
The
Rockies have started the season in solid fashion. Having won five straight,
Colorado (5-1) is close to matching the franchise-best 7-1 start from its 1995
"Blake Street Bombers" club that eventually earned the club's first
playoff berth. This year's Rockies are doing some slugging of their own with
major league bests of 13 homers and 39 runs in their first six games.
But we see
a pitching mismatch here. Madison Bumgarner will go up against Jorge De La
Rosa, with the advantage obviously in the Giants' court. Bumgarner is 2-1 with
a 1.13 ERA in five all-time starts against the Rockies at AT&T Park, and
had the majors' seventh-best home ERA last season at 2.38. The Rockies,
meanwhile, will simply be hoping De La Rosa can avoid getting belted around the
park.
Suggested
bet: Giants -1.5 (three units) WIN

NHL for April 9
Calgary
Flames @ Colorado Avalanche, Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado, Tuesday, April 9, 11.30am
The two
worst teams in the NHL suit up for this forgettable late-season clash in Denver,
but we smell some value amid the stink here. The Flames might be one of the
worst defensive teams in the NHL (allowing 3.51 goals per game) but they won’t
be facing an offensive juggernaut in Colorado.
The Avs
have scored two or fewer in six straight games and whose 29 points are one
fewer than the Flames' total, will try for their third straight home win in
this series. The home side mightn’t be much chop, but they have a respectable
home record while the Flames have won just three of 18 on the road.
Suggested
bet: Flames @ Avalanche -5.5 WIN

College
Basketball for April 9
NCAA
Tournament title game; Michigan v Louisville; Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA,
Tuesday, April 9, noon
Michigan
has compiled a perfect 18-0 record against non-conference opponents during the
2012-13 college basketball season, including a 61-56 victory over the Syracuse
Orange as 1.5-point favourites here on Saturday. The Wolverines are now 9-1
straight up and against the spread (ATS) on a neutral floor.
Sure, a
lot of the betting and situational trends favour Louisville, but we’re
confident that Michigan will prove that the Big Ten was in fact the best
conference in America underlined by the fact that they’ve covered the number in
their last three meetings with Big East opponents.
Suggested
bet: Michigan +4.5 (two units) LOSE
Note: no
NBA games are scheduled for today
